I am a Freelance Illustrator and Designer living and working in central Iowa. I specialize in technical illustrations, logos, and stationery. Being involved in art and the creative process has always been a part of my life.

As a student, I studied Biological Pre-Medical Illustration at Iowa State University. Through this program, I was able to take a wide variety of both art and biology classes while learning skills for creating illustrations that are both beautiful and effective teaching tools. I learned to see science as a work of art and create art from a scientific approach. I feel extremely fortunate to have found a program that combined so many of my interests.

During my senior year, I interned under Dr. Gary Feinman of the Chicago Field Museum as an Archaeological Illustrator in Oaxaca, Mexico. Later, I worked as a Concept Artist for the Virtual Cell Project through the Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC) at ISU. I then interned at Demonstratives, Inc. (DI) until graduation, when I was hired full time as an Animation Artist. At DI, I created technical illustrations, flash animations, and PowerPoint presentations to be used by lawyers and expert witnesses in trial.

Outside of work, I have several hobbies that allow me express my creativity away from the glow of a computer monitor. I’ve been an active member of the glassblowing club at Iowa State University, the ISU Gaffers’ Guild, since 2006 and have been taking lampworking classes for fun. I also enjoy diving into home improvement and furniture projects with my husband. Sometimes we post these escapades on our blog, though admittedly, we’re often better at doing the projects than documenting them…
